I have been trying to find information on my grandfather's military experience which is how I came across this site. Thank you so much for sharing the info you have. I have some pictures from Company C that I am more than happy to share.

Will be heading to Australia (and maybe PNG) this coming March. Am planning to visit Brisbane and Townsville in honor of my father (S/Sgt Robert Ridgely of the medical detachment) and all the others who served in the 339th. Thanks to Bob Klocek for his excellent piece on the outfit; was a pleasure to re-connect with him today.

My father Adam W. Petrowski (1921-2001) served in the 339th. He did not speak to us much of his time in PNG and the Philippines. I remember that he operated a road grader and perhaps a bulldozer. After his death, his doctor told us more than Pop ever did. As many of you know there are not many US Army records available from the archives because of the 1973 fire. I do have a few photos and an old (mimeograph?) copy of a unit history (up to page 18). Back in the early 1980s we were in NC to buy furniture and ended up, after a wrong turn, at the camp Butner site to my fathers delight!
